Fidelio in Basque Country
Another chance to sing Beethoven's only opera this time in the North East of Spain - in San Sebastian or as the Basques call it: in Donostia. Donostia is a wonderful city, vibrant, beautiful, influenced by the French architect Haussmann and at this time of the year full of tourists seeking the refreshment of the sea. The bay is called "La Concha" as from the air it does actually look like a scallop shell. - I share some photos of the splendid Miramar Palace, the Bay and of course of the concert hall "Kursaal."
